Honest Thoughts

what really sucks is that apparently there's this thing called 'being too honest'. Is that even possible? Honesty is always best, right? So does that mean 'too much of a good thing' is true? But it's being honest. The truth hurts right? So why do people get so worked up over being told the God honest, straight facts truth? Is it because they're overly sensitive, or is it just that they can't handle it?

Disneyland Caricature Proposal

Disney Parks Shared this story, and gave a link to the video...this is definitely pretty sweet. Romance and Disney just....click. There's something about holding hands with the one you love in line for your favorite rides, or kissing at the finale of the fireworks that fits. It's magical, romantic, and it's simply one of those moments in life you wish you could put into slow motion forever.

Diggin' the Threads..

The mysterious "Imagineer183" tweeter just posted some new photos that haven't been released yet. They're of the new costumes that will arrive to the upcoming areas of Disney California Adventure.

These were at the Cast Member party today in celebration of DCA's 10th Anniversary of being in business. It's amazing how far we've come, and how much farther we're going to go with this park. Phase One will be done in just over a year, and then, if my guess is correct, we'll get a phase two, which will add even more to the soon to be incredible second gate we should have had in the first place. Oh well, no need to cry over spilled milk. Just gotta get a new bottle of milk is all.

Online Fans Complaints...completely summed up.

Seriously! This is all the foamtard's complaints balled up into one video! Waterfalls, WoC, Star Tours, you name it, they got it! Complain, nag, moan, groan. It's hilarious, because this shows the severe absurdity of some fans retarded complaints against the park.

A Word, Please.. Number one!

This is the first of a potentially weekly column here on the Hangout. Each week I'll interview a cast members that work the resorts. It's a fun way to get to know a name, and learn some fun facts about the people that work at the Happiest Place On Earth. If you want to be interviewed and featured on here, send an e-mail to mainstreetjake@yahoo.com, or at my twitter (link's on the right side of this page)

Now, for the first interview-ee!

Name: Tisa

Age: 38

Hometown: I've lived so many places, I wouldn't even know which to pick. Maybe, Colton Ca.

Favorite Disney Character: Maleficent! She's been my favorite since I can remember. She's just so feisty and care free. I always admired that about her.

Life motto: Treat others the way you want to be treated.

Where do you work in the resort? I work in West Side Stores, which translates to Main Street USA, Adventureland, Frontierland, New Orleans Square and Critter Country. I am also a hat writer.

Favorite Disney Ride? Haunted Mansion, hands down!

iPhone or Blackberry? I haven't had an iPhone, and my old BB made me want to throw it at the wall, several times a day, sooo...ill say iPhone.

What’s something you do every day, without exception? Kiss my cockatiels good morning and good night. I have 3. Chicken, Hunny Pot and Valentine.

Best Cast Member memory to date? Oh, this is recent too! About 2 weeks ago a CM friend and I were on the Haunted Mansion, we had just boarded the Doom Buggie. As we were going up the first incline, the CM working there came up to us and scared us. As she and I were screamimg and laughing, right before the left turn in to the Mansion, he came back and scared us even more! By far, the best spin around the grave yard.

Worst memory to date? My boyfriend and I were in DCA. It was close to the time where Paradise Pier starts to close down for WoC. Now, I don't work attractions, and never utilized the single rider lines for anything. So I'm not exactly sure how they work. The bf and I wanted to head over to DLR befoe WoC traffic gets bad and I wanted to see the first showing of Fansasmic!. I thought, hey I can jump on Screamin' real quick while the bf goes to the restroom. So I bop over to the single rider line and walk up and wait. A CM there tells me, I need a pass from the CM at the front of the attraction. I state I saw no signage telling me that. He said, you could go get one now, but the queue will be closed before you get back. I argued a little bit saying it's not my fault that rule isn't clear. He wouldn't budge. I was the only one in that line, and getting very irritated. I asked to speak to his lead. He said, sure and had me wait near the elevators. After waiting for 15 minutes (no lie. At this point I was furious as I would never waste a guests time like that) someone came to me and said their lead was on lunch. So, I could either wait or miss Fan. I chose Fan, but very disapointed in DCA. I never disclosed I was a CM either.

Favorite musician? That's a hard one, I admire so many. Today, well go with Bradley Nowel.

Best text you’ve ever gotten? From my boyfriend, telling me he loved me for the first time. Awwww.

Mac or PC? PC!!!

What do you think will happen in 2012? I hope not that movie, it was dreadfully long and boring.

You’re in charge of the Disney resort for a week: what do you do? Bring back Halloween Time!

Best Disney Park: The original, Disneyland. Walt walked that park. Lived there. Created it. His heart and soul are there. You just can't compare that to the Disney Duplicates.

Favorite Johnny Depp movie: Ahhhhh!! Sweeney Todd!!! I could recite and sing the whole thing.

Mickey D’s or BK? Taco Bell!

Aladdin Cast Meet and Greet

A friend of mine got a cast meet and greet with the cast of Aladdin: A Musical Spectacular at Disney California Adventure organized for me and some friends. It was really great to thank the people that put on such a great show. They really work hard at doing 5 or 6 shows a day, and keeping it really top notch and professional.

A Word, Please?

I'm debating on starting a weekly column on here that will 'interview' a Micechatter, or if you're from another site if anyone else is interested. Just asking Disney/theme park questions, and simple ice breakers like 'favorite soda' or 'favorite non-Disney movie' just to get the readers to get to know the people on the site more. If anyone's interested, feel free to send me an e-mail at mainstreetjake@yahoo.com. Questions won't be too personal, and if someone from another site wants in on this, feel free to just let me know what site you're from, and your username.

Posters Of The (Past) Future

Disney released some pretty snazzy artwork today for Paradise Pier. They're really creating an awesome theme with this area of the park, and as a personal favorite area, I love these posters! Although, I really can't wait for the foamtards on the fan sites to chew them apart. Just to help them get a head start:

Photo One: Mickey's Fun Wheel: No yellow tarp coverings are present, and there's an added Mickey face on the side facing the pier.

Photo Two: California Screamin: No Sun inside the loop, all cars are the same color, and the Scream Tubes aren't present.

Photo Three: Silly Symphony Swings: Nothing really missing except the designs on the main frame of the ride.

Ok foamtards who read this: Go at it! attack it like a dog on the bone. For the rest of us normal people, let's enjoy this really good peice of artwork, and spend our good money getting poster sizes of it for our man caves and dorm rooms, shall we?

Magic Kingdom Features Custodial Art

Check out this video on Disney Custodial. They definitely do some really cool stuff.

Diving Soon..

Here's some screen caps of the new Little Mermaid attraction coming to Disney California Adventure this spring.

The opening date hasn't been officially released, however there has been talk that they are wanting to open Star Tours 2.0, and The Little Mermaid by May before all those heavy summer crowds really start to show up. I just wish they'd show more of what's going on in that building with the droids next door. There hasn't been much that's been released, and I'm curious, along with thousands of other fans, what exactly is going on in there.

That's the pretty fascinating thing about these two construction sites. They've got some things in common, and some other differences. For one, the Mermaid building is all from scratch (save for the Rotunda), and we've been able to see all the external work going on, with the occasional small surprise otherwise. Star Tours, we haven't really seen anything. It's been boarded up tight, because everything is all pretty much already in there. Come this spring, we'll all have two new really amazing adventures to go on at the resort.

Roaming Their Way To Yesterland

There's been talk that those famous, and classic characters you know and hold close to your heart aren't going to be helping create magical memories as good as they used to. The photopass section of Disney is putting a ban on characters roaming about the parks. There's not going to be anymore Mad Hatter and Alice wandering Fantasyland, riding Storyboook Land, or the Tea Cups with guests. No more Goofy sneaking up behind you on Main Street to take your hat, and...well, goof off with you for a few minutes of your stay at the Kingdom. No more Tigger bounci-well you get the point. The characters aren't going to be around playing in the parks. They're being bound up to selected meet and greets in the park, with selected times you can go see them. Sounds almost like cartoon prison to me.

The whole reason Photopass is doing this, from my understanding of David Koenig's article on Mouse Planet, is that they want more money in that department. They want you to go to the characters so they can take your photo, you can go to Main Street, buy it through them, and go home with a unnatural smile, under a propped up set. Honestly I would much rather have a potential opportunity to get my little sister riding the carousel with Mary Poppins, or even just a shot with her on Main Street playing Musical chairs with characters at the Coke Corner.

Here's a solution, and Disney listen up. I know I'm just another guest who loves going to the park like anyone else, but how hard can it be to hire more people to that department, and have a scheduled time that character A roams here, character B roams there, and so on and so forth. Then, along with a handler (if you don't know what that term is, it is a Cast Member who is basically the security guard for the character on stage.) , the characters can "roam" and the photo pass people can get great candid shots of children rubbin' noses with Tigger, or walking around Tomorrowland with Stitch and Buzz. Granted, you might get someone else that's not a family member or member of your party, however, how many people get in the guests photos while taking shots of friends in front of the castle, or in front of Small World? So personally, I don't see that as a problem. If there's any other problems or instances I'm missing, please, feel free to contact me on my site e-mail: mainstreetjake@yahoo.com

Hopefully this doesn't become the case, and I sure hope that we can see our favorite characters roam the lands they call home.

40 Years of Brewing Strong

Starbucks is celebrating 40 years of brewing that awesome coffee we all love. And with that, they're changing their logo a little bit.

The Siren has been the staple logo for the company ever since they opened their doors at Pike Place. And as the photo shows, it's gone through some nice cosmetic changes over the years. I think this new logo is pretty new age, and really crisp, clean and simple. So here's to late night college study sessions, to early morning businessmen rushing to work. Yes, and even to the soccer mom's and those mocha-choca-latte'-chai-nonfat-extra whipped cream-sprinkled with cinnamon-frappuccinos. But most importantly, here's to another 40 years of brewing that wonderful morning Joe they've been brewing for 40 years already.
