For The Record

I'm doing this to keep my nose clear.

A twitter follower of mine has been known to harass me a bit, and I usually let it slide off my back. But this is something that is NOT cool. They claim it's humorous, but I really don't see the funny in a tweet regarding a news coverage of a Northern California teen sexually assaulting a 17 year old girl at ElecTRONica, and asking "What did you do?!".

First off, when this apparently happened  on May 20th, I was no where near the parks. I was in my hometown. I had a morning meeting at Starbucks with a friend to discuss his upcoming holiday light shows, and the video he wants me to shoot for him. After that, we met up with a group of friends from my old high school and saw Pirates 4. Got lunch after that, and we all headed home. The rest of the day I was with my family. The last time I was remotely close to Disneyland was May 7th and 8th for the Pirates 4 Premiere.

I'm doing this to lay this stupid accusation to bed. Ironically enough, they already caught the suspect.

This twitter follower is now blocked, after multiple attempts of asking to stop with the posts. Calling me a D*** doesn't help the case either. For future note of anyone trying to do the same thing this follower did: I screen shot everything that comes as harassing, or threatening. Want to be a jerk about things, just remember that what you say, even if you delete it after posting it, I'll still have screenshot of it.

The false accusations thrown my way need to be addressed appropriately, and this is the best way possible. I wish to hold my self to a very high regard, and try to be the best man I can be. When something like this comes up and goes against my morals and values, I try to nip it in the bud as quickly as possible.

Thanks for your time.

Memorial Day

I'm usually all fun and games, but I want to take a moment here to write about Memorial Day.
First, if any veteran, or current soldier is reading this, thank you VERY much for your service to our country. Thank you for putting yourself in the line of fire, for millions of Americans, so we all can have the freedoms we have.

To some, this weekend is nothing more than liquidation sales, BBQ's, and just another three day weekend. But do we really remember WHY we fly the flag out in the front yard? WHY we're even celebrating in the first place?

It's not really a happy holiday. It's to remember those who have died serving in the armed forces for OUR freedom. The men and women who have spent months away from their families to stay up for hours patrolling the jungles of Vietnam or streets of Baghdad, only to die in battle. For what purpose? To keep us free.

Take time this year to thank a Veteran. Or if you happen to see a memorial for a fallen soldier, pay some respects to it. They're the reason we're still the country we are.

Closing Projects

Wow, can you guys believe that a few years ago we were all gawking at the major projects Disney announced? If you've been living under a rock and have no concept of what I'm talking about, here's a recap of what we've gotten, and what we're going to get.

What we've gotten:

Disney California Adventure

World of Color - a night time water show that is one part Disney magic, one part Bellagio fountains on steroids. It doesn't have a defining story, but it is a giant platform that is bigger than a football field, has all of the latest water fountains, projectors, lasers, flame throwers, and sounds systems, and takes you on a emotional journey through several Disney stories. This show is great for DCA because it can always change with just a few nights of testing and programming, so it will always be able to change with the park and times.

Silly Symphony Swings - Small change here. They took out this:

To Add this:

It's the same ride, just now out in the open, and has the story of the classic Mickey short "The Band Concert.

What is coming VERY soon:
This is what we're getting this summer.

Goofy's Sky School: It's the same ride, just with a new story of Goofy teaching you how to fly (based on the short "Goofy's Glider"). Here's some before/soon to be after shots:

Paradise Garden Grill:

It's the same dining area where Pizza Oom Mow Mow and Burger Invasion once stood. Now it's a victorian themed area with a new italian and mediterranean menu debuting later this summer.

The Little Mermaid: Ariels Undersea Adventure

This took over the theater that once housed Golden Dreams. Remember it? Y'know..the one with Whoopie Goldberg? No? Yea neither do I.

This attraction is currently in soft opening mode, with occasional openings throughout the day for the general public to enjoy. Basically its a big preview before the "official' opening.

It's pretty self explanatory. It's a ride with dey FishyGirl.
Don't think it's some super awesome E-ticket. That's next year. This ride is like DCA's fantasyland dark rides. Highlights of all the cool scenes from the film, but with super awesome, state of the art, brand freaking new animatronics. For those of you that don't know, an animatronic is a really awesome robot. Plain and simple.

before
after. much prettier, no?

There's some other minor things the park has gotten this year, but those aren't really the things that will draw the average guests in. These are. So, THIS is what we've gotten so far. Now lets see what we're GOING to get.

Buena Vista Street

This is what I'm looking forward to the most. They're changing up the ENTIRE entrance to the park to look like REALLY old Los Angeles. No, not like when the first twelve people and a burro were there. A little younger than that. Let's say the 1920's. The golden age of L.A. The park is getting its own 'castle' so to speak. At the end of this street is going to be a full scale model of the Carthay Circle Theater....Theatre? Either way. It's going to be the focal point of the street. It's super awesome looking, and will be a great, big thing to take pictures of. Or just admire. Or try to sneak into the rumored exclusive, members only restaurant that'll be built inside.

Carsland

This is actually being added ONTO the park. This area is where a parking lot used to be. But now, it's all going to be designed to look like Radiator Springs. Inside this desert new land, there'll be three rides, and a variety of dining areas. The rides include "Mater's Junkyard Jamboree" where you get to spin around with those tipsy tractors to hoedown music. "Luigi's Roamin' (hehe...get it? Roamin? he's...Italian? yea? Not punny enough? Fine.) Tires" where you get to sit on a tire, and play bumper cars with your friends.

Finally, the granddaddy of them all is Radiator Springs Racers. This ride will be taking you through the caverns of the Cadillac Range, to either Ramon's Paint Shop, or Luigi's tires, and then as the finale, you'll be racing side by side with another car! Think of it as a giant slot track for humans.

Overall, it's a fantastic project that is really helping out California Adventure. The park was really suffering from the lack of guests visiting (compared to the nearly always busy sister park next door). But even now, with just over 1/2 of all the things open, the park's numbers have risen significantly, and I'm sure that the creative geniuses at Walt Disney Imagineering are already thinking of things to add to the park in the future. It's an exciting adventure, and I can't wait to see what else they have planned for this newly redesigned park.

as a final note, here's a overhead shot of the ongoing expansion of the park. You can see the stage in the bay. That's World of Color's platform. All that dirt to the right of it, is Radiator Springs (Carsland). And that building to the top (north) of the water, is Little Mermaid's ride building. It's exciting to see so much construction go on, and see how everything progresses. The imagineers deserve a large amount of praise for their fantastic work that they do. They really do care to make the best things they can for the guests enjoyment and experience. Sure, they have a budget to work with, and some things may not end up looking like the original blue sky concept, but they always find the best way possible to work with what they're given, and they rarely disappoint. They've exceeded my expectations and thoughts of the park being re-designed already. There's always more to come, and I can't wait for the future.

It's only the start of a great Adventure.

Gnomes

I really wasn't expecting much when I started watching Gnomeo and Juliet. I  was pretty entertained by it. Definitely a really fun movie, with a very clever twist on the (obvious) Shakespearean classic Romeo and Juliet.

But to be fair, I love animated films that get clever with changing the way us humans do things to fit the characters needs. That's why I enjoy A Bug's Life (despite the slow moving nature of it).

Overall, it's not the greatest animated film ever, but it IS really enjoyable. Check it out on Redbox or HBO if you get the chance. It's worth at least that much.

High School Never Ends

We're all rockin' the Chuck Taylors!

I could go on about how awesome that song is from Bowling For Soup , but we'll not focus on Jack Black being the clown, Brad Pitt being the quarterback, etc.

Kind of ironic, considering I don't go there anymore..

Last night was great. It was a end to four years of high school. End of being a real kid. End of not having a lot of responsibilities. It was a step up into the real world. Onto college. Onto jobs, and real relationships that can end up in marriage.

BCHS' graduation went well. My friends walked across the stage, received their diploma, and threw those awkward frisbee hats high in the air.

My best friend right after graduation. Really proud of this guy!

And then rest of my night went pretty well. Went and saw Kung Fu Panda 2 after the graduation.
My awesome sister and me waiting for Kung Fu Panda 2.

Now for the lengthy part of this post:

Kung Fu Panda 2 was great. I was never totally into the first one, but this one I liked better. It just seemed more on top of its game with the story, jokes and overall visuals of the film. This one still has those classic fat panda jokes Pho makes about himself, but also with some really solid comedy that's fresh. And I must say, the film visually is stunning. The opening scene was great, but a little slow. They open the film with chinese paper puppetry setting up the plot in the form of a backstory. The angles they used were definitely creative as well. With a shot looking directly down over a village as the Furious Five make an escape, they use the alleyways of the town to resemble somewhat of a Pac-Man maze.

On top of the creative angles, the pure beauty they created resembling China and its culture was beautiful. Wide shots of lush green valleys with a misty sky. The buildings with intensely detailed carvings, it's all just very well done.

Overall there really wasn't much that was bad about the film except the beginning was a little slow to start things off. Other than that, it's a fun film. Definitely one of summer's better films so far.

Enter Some Old Latin Saying Here. Congrats, Grad.

Well, high school is coming to a close. My friend's at BCHS are graduating tomorrow, and due to economic reasons, I'll be there in the audience clapping along with my friend's parents. But I'm not going to be a downer about that. Instead, I'm going to take the time to post about a lot of the fun times I had with people in the two and a half years I was there. This is more personal posting about some past memories there, so if you don't want to read through, go for it. But if you want to read some of my stories of high school, get comfy. Grab a drink. Put on some music, and I hope you enjoy reading the stories as much as I do writing them.

First girlfriend in high school

lunchtime.

Sophomore year was the first time I had a girlfriend in high school. I had dated another girl the summer before my freshman year, but this was the first girl in high school. I remember asking her out right before Christmas break in the gym. There was big group of us sitting on the bleachers just hanging out, and the entire week before I kept noticing her watching me. I'd make eye contact, and she'd look away. Finally the Friday before we left for Christmas break, on the bleachers in the gym, I asked Kristin out. My best friend had asked her best friend out, and we all decided to go see Marley and Me a week from Saturday. Our first date was the movies, held hands and all that cutesy stuff. Over the next three months we went to formal, slow danced to "I'm Yours" by Jason Mraz, and spent the rest of the night eating pizza and playing the wii at her place with our group of friends.

I was so lame..nervous as all get out that night.

Towards late February, early March everything kind of stalled. She broke up with me to focus on school, and I let her. It hurt, because I really liked her, but in relationships, and especially at an age like that, it's better to let go.

Football Games

The first two years of high school I played football. At first I loved playing. It was something relatively new to me, and it was a lot of fun to do. Coach put me in as a defensive end, and offensive lineman on frosh-soph. I can still remember the first time I got a sack. We were playing against Tehachapi High at their home field, and their lineman left a gap open so I darted through, and as I got closer, the Quarterback saw me, and started to run, but I grabbed his jersey and kinda just threw him to the ground. It wasn't a hard hit, or even pretty, but it got the job done.

What sucked was 'hell week', and the Bakersfield heat we had to practice and play in from July to September. On top of that, there was one time it was a 110 degrees, and there was a fire in Santa Barbara that was drifting it's intense and thick smoke up and into the valley. Where Bakersfield is, it's surrounded by mountains. So what does that smoke do? It sits in the valley. We had a game against Garces High, in the middle of that fire. The sky was literally brownish orange at sunset. We couldn't see the sun, but the sky was what seemed to be apocalyptic. And we ran, and tackled, passed and blocked throughout all of that. Seriously insane stuff.

Off the field, it was always a party in the stands with friends. We never watched the game, but ended up stealing each others hats and hiding them on the visitors stands for whoever we stole it from to go find it. It was one of the stupidest games we played, but it was entertaining at the time.

Hume Lake

Where to even start with this one?! BCHS takes the entire school up to Hume Lake for a week right after school starts in August/September. This will be a combo of all three years I went. My gosh, there was some seriously great times up in those mountains. From playing poker (yes, Christian school kids playing poker. Kind of ironic, no?) all night the last night of camp, to the dye wars (entire school wearing white throwing dyed water at each other for the heck of it), it's just a great time to get together as a core body and learning more about God and the Bible with our peers.

The football players had practice during free time, which sucked because it took up most of the time. But we still got to go through a high ropes course, and play some paintball (on that note, it hurts getting shot point blank in the back by one of those things! Stupid freshman. He was even on my team...).

Classes

Mr. Horner and some classmates

I'm pretty sure my teachers are some of the most patient people I've ever met. My friends and I put them through a lot. From using a pointer laser in the back of biology class to mess with our Science teacher, to Stealing the dean's golf cart to drive around campus after school, we did a lot of stupid stuff that gave them every right to give us detention until we graduated COLLEGE. But they usually let us off the hook because we were, according to their words, so lovable.

Pranks

BCHS has always had a 'rumor' that the roof of the Gym had a pool on top that is exclusive to only the senior class. No one really believed it, but I figured I'd take the rumor to new heights and see if I could get away with it. So I took a google map image of the gym, and a google map photo of the pool center in town, and put it on the roof. It's not the *best* photoshop creation I've done (15 minutes before 4th period ended was all the time I had), but it got me some cash from the freshman. I sold them fake elevator passes to the so called pool. It was the only time I ever did it, and boy did the deans not like me for this one. They were more surprised that I actually got away with it than mad that the freshman were complaining they lost $10 (rich dairy kids...God bless 'em.).

End of The Semester

There's A LOT more memories I've had with people from BCHS. This is just the tip of the ice berg. I may do a part two, or leave it at this, and just make a slideshow of photos/video. But I gotta say, through all the crappy drama, through all the people gossiping about who did what, and who hooked up with who, I still love a lot of people from the school. I may not be there to graduate with my friends, but I'm at least going to be there tomorrow night in the stands cheering them on as they get their diplomas, and start the rest of their lives as they walk off the stage.

graduate gratulatione. tua merita.

Weekly 33TO33 Leaderboard

Hey everyone. I hope you're still enjoying 33TO33. Not much to update you with this week. Just remember that I'm one guy trying to put together something fun. It's definitely a lot of work and a learning experience, learning how to best write questions, scrambles, etc. Thanks for learning and growing with it. I hope you're having as much fun as I am. :)

And one note on the
Leaderboard. I know it may not look like it, but it's still anyone's game. All I am going to say is... Don't give up. You never know when not giving up may pay off.
And now... here's the Leaderboard:

I Wipe Myself Clean of This Mess..

seriously guys? That's the best you can do? I can say I'm disappointed..I was hopefully expecting more than just TPing all over the school. Sure, it's classic, but get original! Hit home. You had one shot at this, and struck out swinging. Should have put soap on the lawn. Planted flowers on the football field (naturally, in your rivals colors, or logo).

If you haven't noticed, I'm sadly disappointed in my senior friends at BCHS. As a guy that got away with a lot of relatively decent pranks, from selling fake elevator passes to the freshman, gaining them access to the exclusive 'seniors only' rooftop pool, to buying the detention teacher a Pizookie from BJ's to get out of my detention, I was hoping they could outdo themselves. But no, all they did was TP the school.

Here's hoping this year's juniors, next year's seniors can out do this. It's not going to be too hard.

End Of The World As We Know It

Huh. Last Saturday I crashed prom. This Saturday I survived a potential end of the world. What will next Saturday bring? Eternal love? Wisdom beyond my Years? Lottery winning? Or maybe even longboarding Lombard street in San francisco? We'll see in a week.

Missing Mermaid

Contrary to some's thoughts, this mermaid is not Amanda Seyfried.

It's actually gemma ward.
Although, they do look eerily similar.

Filming Life

Just throwing this out there for those who are interested in, or are bored at the late shift at work. I've got a youtube page with..well videos. But of anything..just stuff that I've filmed. If you want, check them out, if not, that's cool too. But you're missing out on quality life entertainment at its finest here. Just so you know.

We got bored at McLintocks in Pismo, so we had our own rodeo!

My little Sister Hannah listing the World of Color (this was before she even saw the show!)

NOW, if you watch any of the videos I'm posting, I'd love for you to view this one. This documented our trip to China to get my little sister we adopted, and it's one that is very special to me.

 disney trips with friends:

And finally....

hannah sneaking her leapster to bed...I used to do the same thing as a kid...

....but when I was a kid, I didn't have a fancy educational video game system.
I HAD A BOOK.

Mice Banned

The more and more I think about this, the more pathetic and lame it sounds. But none the less, you're probably here to find out why I'm now a 'banned user' on MiceChat.

Well, I'll let you know!

But first, let me explain my thoughts on MiceChat. Originally, the site used to be great. Full of happy people all congregating to talk about Disney, and if there was a difference of opinion, people simply agreed to disagree, and moved on.

But now, there's cliques. There's sides to arguments. There's debates over the stupidest stuff. Main Street Paint Schemes, for example. (P.S that's what got me suspended from the site a long time ago) Go ahead. Read that article, and tell me how absurd people are. Granted, I was in the wrong on some wording, and probably should have let sleeping dogs lie, but geez, a guy trying to help out and show that it's absurd to talk about such a thing gets a LOT of flack for stepping in. There was even an argument that the new Triton statue on the new Little Mermaid attraction was exactly ONE CENTIMETER off from being in line with the railings inside Paradise Park.

The site went negative. It turned to the Dark Side like Anakin Skywalker. And this time, there is no cookies here. And if they are, they're those bland and dry cookies your aunt always makes for the family get togethers. The ones no one wants to touch. That's what happened to MiceChat. It became the cookie people never wanted to touch.

So what does this have to do with me? Well, I tried to be a part of the group that tried to change MiceChat back on course to what it was. There's still people on the site fighting the good fight. But I couldn't take it anymore, so I decided to go out with a bang. Do something not many would expect from the guy that's the All American. The good guy who tries to do no wrong. I sockpuppetted, and legitimately trolled the site.

I created the icanhasfoam account, and went to the site and had a little fun with it, as you can see:

Photo Courtesy of @boy33 on twitter.

This was 1) Over MiceChat being stupid and leaking inside photos of the newly redesigned Star Tours attraction, and 2) just in general to mess with people, and potentially provide some entertainment to an otherwise DEAD and GONE forum.

Am I sorry I did it? Not really. The people need to wake up and realize that there is more to life than sitting at home all the time on your computer and complaining about things they have ZERO control over. And ontop of that, I wanted out, and when I decide to leave, I with with my own style.

There ARE some nice people I have met on the site, I will give them that. There ARE normal people. BUT they are few and far between. Thankfully a lot of those normal people are on my twitter and facebook accounts.

MiceChat will more than likely continue to go on with their usual complaints and banter about how the Corn Dog Castle's new design isn't period appropriate, and how ECV's need to be out of the park because one broke a fireplace on Main Street.

And what am I going to be doing? I'll be over here blogging about not only Disney, but my life (because all four of you love to know what I'm doing), sports, surfing, movies, and whatever else is fun to talk about. But not all the time. There's never a set post schedule to my site. Because y'know, I actually have a life outside of cyberspace. That, and I gotta go to class. College doesn't wait for anyone you know..

so with that, let's all bid a fairwell to the FoamTards of MiceChat, and welcome in a new chapter of life.

EDIT:

oh, and a final note: their MiceEars Crew Members...don't play by the rules. Check out the personal attack...but not really. Yea...you're not gonna find it now. They deleted it.

33TO33 Leaderboard

Welcome to the first of the Monday 33TO33 Updates. We’ve had five full days of competition. I’ve asked 29 questions and 56 total points have been awarded. In the future, I anticipate that this weekly update will be pretty brief and to the point… I’ll tell you the “Top 10 Players” by points. But this week, before we do that, I wanted to provide a few tips and reminders first.
  • The answer to or winning photo of a question will come in the form of a RETWEET of the first correct tweet. So, look for that. You can stop answering if you see that. No points for the second time someone gets it right. Or the twentieth. ;)
  • If I ask for a photo, include your Photocard in the picture. It has to be the printed Photocard that is available from the blog post that announced this contest. It cannot be anything else, even a piece of paper with the same information written on it. At least one person has left the contest over this, but it was in the rules. Sorry…
  • This one has been a sticking point… On questions where text (ONLY) is your reply (Trivia or “Where is this photo?,” your FIRST tweet is the one I’ll consider your answer. “One answer” wasn’t initially a rule, but it became immediately clear that it needed to be one on the very first day of the contest (May 11, 2011) and thus is now a rule. However, if the question asks for a photo of something (Scavenger), more than one try will be accepted.
  • If you aren’t in the Parks and I ask you to take a picture of something, it doesn’t do much good to tell me “Oh, I know the answer… That’s the Village Haus, in Fantasyland!” and not provide a picture. You are simply helping other people beat you. If I ask for a picture, you don’t get points for just knowing what the answer is. While it certainly doesn’t BOTHER ME if you do that, do keep in mind you’ll be helping someone ELSE win points that should be yours!
  • If I ask for a picture of you doing something, say, drinking out of a Disney cup, make sure you send me a picture of you in the picture actually DOING THAT, and not just a picture of a Disney cup. And make sure you have the Photocard too. If I just ask for a picture of a cup, that’s all I need. It doesn’t matter If you are in the picture or not. Pay attention to what I ask.
  • Don’t be SUPER paranoid about when the questions will come… You need sleep too. I’ll make a deal with you: The questions won’t ever come between 2am and 6am. GAME ON for the other 20 hours of the day though. ;)
  • If you “don’t agree” with this contest, or you “don’t feel that it’s fair,” you are under no obligation to play.
  • Last but not least… There isn’t MUCH of this going on, but please stop complaining about the rules or the results of a game that I am providing for free. I’m not a tyrant, and I’m not going to run this game like one, but please… just stop. It’s just a fun game!
Oh-kay… Now on to the 33TO33 Leaderboard!

On Stranger Tides...Walking the Black Carpet.

Alright, I finally got around to posting photos of the Premiere! First things first, I cannot thank Charlie and Ashley for being gracious enough to give me a ticket into this event. It really was a phenomenal act of kindness, and I greatly appreciate it.

Now, onto the photos! Ashley, I promise there's no photos of you (per your wishes of the 'no photos rule'), even though you look beautiful in photos.
Noted!

Getting ready to walk onto the carpet!

Who do we see first? THE MONKEY!

Snazzy.

He kind of got in my way..but even still, the logo is awesome!
Start of the long stretch of carpet!
 On the carpet!
These guys were all over the place doing really cool stuff. This guy was playing basketball with himself. Another set of guys were sword fighting on stilts.
This is at the entrance to Frontierland. It just kept GOING!

The theater for the evening.
There was some insane detail, all for just ONE night.
This setup totally blows my lego collection out of the water. Count me in as jealous.
The attractions were open to the guests of the premiere, and what better way to start the night off than a ride on the attraction that started the film!

Now we're going to fast foward three hours in time, because I shut my phone off to watch the film.

Phone back on, and after the film.
Panorama shot of the entire setup.
This guy...just saw the second best Pirates film made to date.
Big Thunder open? No wait? Don't mind if I do!
Another ride on Pirates...and yea. They turned on the BlackBeard effect for us that will debut this summer! It's a temporary thing (for now at least. It *may* stay if it's really popular), and I personally like it better than Davy Jones (that is in the same location as this effect).
Walking out of the park for the night. First time walking on Main Street with virtually NO ONE there.

They gave the guests of the premiere their own set of custom universal XPand 3D glasses! Forget wearing those lame glasses at the movie theater. I'm rocking these!

Now, here's some more photos that I was tagged in from my friends on facebook that were in the stands along the carpet.
...thought I'd share them here:

Yea...there was some dude that wanted me to sign for him. It was really crazy! He knew me from MiceChat and Twitter...crazy stuff, but it was fun!
and another shot...some people keep bagging on me and saying I paid these guys, but I swear, they did all this on their own. Josh R. and Josh M. you guys are insanely awesome!

As for the film, because I'm sure you're wondering what I thought of it, I thought it was awesome. I won't give away much, if any of the film's plot, but I will say that this is very much like the first Pirates film. Besides the mermaids and zombies, there's not much 'fantasy' pirates, and it's more 'realistic', if you will. There's cleverly shot fight scenes, and the initial chase scene through London was visually impressive, especially in 3D. The budding romance of the new 'Will and Elizabeth' (NO, they're not in the film, but the new romance is like the past couple) is well done, and not overpowering in its scenes. If you don't know what romance I'm talking about, it's a boy and a mermaid that fall in love.

Blackbeard is a great villain. He's just flat out bad. If you get in his way, he will kill you. Ian McShane played this role VERY well.

And last but not least, Jack. Jack is just as awesome as ever, and comes up with some great one liners. This character, in my opinion, will never get old. He's so...free, and wild. But tame at the same time. It's such an interesting blend of styles, but somehow consistently always seems to stay fresh on screen.

I really suggest seeing this film. It's FAR better than the second and third films, and is just good pure fun. Oh, and if you liked this film, then you're going to be in a treat. The writers have already turned in the first draft of the fifth film's script.
